Anurag Kashyap is a multi – talented filmmaker who has been credited as a Director, Producer, and Writer as well as an Actor, in over 40 movies. He has won several accolades including a National Film Award & 6 Filmfare Awards. His film Dev.D (2009), a modern adaptation of Devdas was a critical and commercial success, followed by the political drama Gulaal (2009), & the thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots (2011).
Three of his recent films have premiered at Cannes, and his epic two – part crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur is hugely popular. The film made it to the Guardian’s 100 Best Films list.
Anurag has co-produced the critically acclaimed drama The Lunchbox and the biographical drama Shahid in 2013. His next films were the anthology Bombay Talkies (2013) and the drama Ugly (2014). In 2016, Anurag Kashyap directed Raman Raghav 2.0, a film based on the serial killer Raman Raghav. This was followed by the sports drama Mukkabaaz (2018). The same year Anurag went on to co–direct India’s first Netflix Original series, the crime thriller Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s novel. Sacred Games Season 1 was nominated for the Best Drama Series at the International Emmy’s 2019.
For his contribution to the films, the Government of France awarded him with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2013. He has also served on the jury of Sundance, Venice, CPH Pix and Marrakech film festivals. He headed the jury at the Singapore International Film Festival on their 30th anniversary for their Asian Feature Film Competition in 2019.
Anurag has made some memorable ad films with the biggest stars of Hindi cinema over the years for brands like Coca Cola, Samsung, P & G, and Reliance.
